Fascinating: More Catholics support new mandated birth control coverage than Americans in general!
A recent poll finds 55% of Americans in support of requiring free access to birth control within insurance plans; among Catholics polled the rate of support is 58%.
This survey was prompted by new regulations put forth by the Obama administration to increase access to contraception at low costs. Naturally this rule led to Republican outrage, labeling it an assault on religious beliefs, particularly of Catholics. Now what will they claim?
They should just keep it simple and say: “We hate this because Obama did it!”
(And, oh, by the way: the rule does not apply to churches and strictly religious employers — it does apply to large religiously-affiliated institutions like hospitals and universities.)
